Eastern Palace Elegant Boxes

When my downline Patti started talking about these sturdy little boxes that she made for the gift shop where she volunteers at, I knew I had to find out how she made them. Patti lives in another state, so we met on Zoom for a chat and we had a lovely time while she shared how she made her origami box. I loved the origami box, but it was hard to do the origami fold using card stock, so I figured out how to make the box using the envelope punch board, to make it easier and to eliminate some of the fold lines.

With a card stock base and a designer series paper top, this double-walled box is super sturdy and makes a nice presentation for a little gift. It holds four Ferrero Rocher Truffles perfectly and it makes a great box for giving jewelry. The Eastern Medallion Thinlits make an elegant and quick topper for the top of the box. If you would like to find out how to make this box, just watch my video tutorial above.

Quick Reference
  • Base: Start with a 7-1/2" square of Card Stock. Use the Envelope Punch Board, to score the square at the 2-1/4 and 4-1/8" marks on ALL FOUR sides. Find the halfway point on one of the sides and put the halfway point at the 2-1/4" mark and score one more time. Rotate the piece a quarter turn to the left. Line this score line up with the 4-1/8" mark and score again. Repeat for the remaining 2 sides. See video for how to cut and fold the box. The Base Liner is a 2-5/8" square.
  • Lid: Start with a 8" square of Designer Series Paper. Use the Envelope Punch Board, to score the square at the 2-3/8 and 4-3/8" marks on ALL FOUR sides. Find the halfway point on one of the sides and put the halfway point at the 2-3/8" mark and score one more time. Rotate the piece a quarter turn to the left. Line this score line up with the 4-3/8" mark and score again. Repeat for the remaining 2 sides. See video for how to cut and fold the box. The Lid Liner is a 2-7/8" square.
  • Jewelry Insert: Start with a 2-5/8" x 3-3/4" piece of card stock. On the 3-3/4" side, score at the 1" mark using the Simply Scored. Use a 1/16" handheld circle punch to create holes for inserting earrings.
